On Tuesday (November 11), GBP/USD showed an obvious downward trend during the day, continuing to drop from the area near 1.3170 in early trading, reaching the lowest near 1.3116, and then rebounded, currently oscillating around 1.3138.
The GBP/USD currency pair has rebounded over the past few days, climbing from a low of 1.3009 at the end of last week to a high of 1.3190, its highest level since October 30. GBP/USD is down nearly 4% from September highs.
UK employment data fell short of expectations
GBP/USD fell after the UK released employment data. A report from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed that the unemployment rate rose to 5% in September from 4.8% in August, higher than expectations for 4.9%.
The Office for National Statistics will also release the latest GDP data on Thursday. The market generally expects the British economy to grow by 0.2% in the third quarter, down from 0.3% in the previous quarter. In addition, the agency will also publish the latest import and export data, manufacturing and industrial output data.

The pair has formed a double top pattern, with a peak at 1.3718 and a neckline at 1.3140 - a level that has been retested over the past few days.
The exchange rate currently remains above the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level of 1.3148 and below the 50-day and 100-day exponential moving averages. The Average Directional Index (ADX) has risen to 37 but is now starting to turn lower.
Therefore, the most likely trend is for the exchange rate to resume its downward trend and possibly retest the support level of 1.3000. If the resistance level of 1.3250 is exceeded, the bullish view will be invalid.
